Turning human urine into a resource

Human urine is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK) and micronutrients. In addition to the fertilizer it provides to the soil, it is an excellent culture medium for microorganisms.

Fertilization in the EU: A dead end that threatens food security

Each year, more than 18 million tons of mineral fertilizers are used in Europe. The most imported fertilizers are based on nitrogen (29%), phosphorus (58%) and potassium (78%). Our agriculture is largely dependent on imports, is closely linked to the exploitation of non-renewable resources and threatens biodiversity, our environment and our health.

An urgent need to improve water management

Urine management is a global problem, Every year, 6,000 billion liters of drinking water in Europe are contaminated by 200 billion liters of urine. Around 80% of the world's wastewater is discharged without treatment. Elsewhere, urine is difficult to treat and pollutes our water resources. Human urine accounts for 50 to 80% of the N, P and K content for only 1% of the total volume of wastewater.

Toopi Organics' virtuous cycle

Human urine is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium (N, P, K) and micronutrients. In addition to the fertilizer it provides to the soil, it is an excellent culture medium for microorganisms. At Toopi Organics, thanks to our patented process, we collect, transform and valorize human urine to meet the needs of various industries.
